FC type

The connector was originally developed by NTT Japan. Abbreviation for FC - FERRULE CONNECTOR - Indicates that its external reinforcement is in the form of a threaded metal sleeve. The earliest FC connectors used ceramic pins as the butt ends. The connector is simple in structure, easy to operate, and easy to manufacture, but the end of the fiber is sensitive to dust and is susceptible to Fresnel reflection, so it is difficult to improve the return loss performance. Later, this type of connector was improved by using a ball pin (PC) on the mating surface, and the external structure was not changed, which greatly improved the performance of insertion loss and return loss.

SC type

This is a fiber optic connector developed by NTT Corporation of Japan. Its outer casing is rectangular, and the plunger and connecting sleeve have the same structural dimensions as the FC type. The end faces of the pins are usually in PC or APC grinding mode. The fastening method is a plug-in latch type that does not require rotation. The connector is inexpensive, easy to operate, has small fluctuations in insertion loss, high compressive strength, and high installation density.
